What genres do you edit?

I work on most genre fiction, including:

  • Fantasy (all kinds!)

  • Magical Realism

  • Sci-fi

  • Mystery/Suspense

  • Horror

  • Thriller

  • YA / New adult

  • Romance

I’m not the best choice for children’s book, erotica, translated books, memoir, or Christian fiction, or non-fiction. If you're unsure, please get in touch!

Do you only edit UK English?

No! Although I'm a native UK English speaker, I also edit US, Canadian, and Australian English.

How does the editing process work?

I conduct edits using Microsoft Word's Track Changes and Comments features. I'll return two documents to you – one showing my comments and changes using Word's Track Changes, and one clean copy. You can then accept or reject the changes as you see fit, and address any comments.

Will you make my book perfect?

No editor can guarantee perfection! Almost every published book has an error or two somewhere. So while I cannot say I will make your novel perfect, I can promise to do my very best to catch as many errors as possible and deliver a clean, polished manuscript that you can be proud of.

How much does editing cost?

This will vary depending on the condition of your manuscript and how much editing is required. However, as a general guide, I charge £70 per 10,000 words (so, for example, that would be £490 for a 70,000-word novel). This is a special introductory offer as I build up my business. I'll ask for 50% at the start of the edit, and 50% after the edit is complete.

It's important to find an editor whose style fits yours. As such, I offer a free sample edit of 1,000 words to see if we're a good match.

Do I have to get my entire book edited?

Not necessarily! If you want me to just look at the first few chapters so you can send them to agents, for example, I'm happy to do so :)
